TNPSC CTS Interview Selection Process
TNPSC first conducts Paper I and the post-specific Paper II in CBT mode. Candidates meeting the qualifying and reservation criteria are shortlisted for onscreen certificate verification, followed by physical certificate verification and interview.
Final ranking is based on Paper I Parts B and C, Paper II and the 60-mark interview. Part A of Paper I is a qualifying Tamil Eligibility Test; candidates need 60 out of 150 for the remaining papers to be evaluated.
Stage 1: Written Examination
- Paper I: Tamil Eligibility Test, General Studies, Aptitude and Mental Ability
- Paper II: qualification-linked subject paper
- CBT mode; dates to be announced later
Stage 2: Onscreen Certificate Verification
- Uploaded certificates and experience claims are scrutinised
- Shortlisting ratio varies for posts with and without experience requirements
Stage 3: Physical Certificate Verification
- Original documents must be produced
- Only eligible candidates proceed to interview
Stage 4: Interview and Final Ranking
- Interview carries 60 marks
- Final merit combines written and interview marks subject to reservation rules
Exam Pattern & Syllabus
Paper I is common: Part A Tamil Eligibility Test has 100 SSLC-standard questions for 150 marks; Parts B and C contain 75 degree-standard General Studies questions and 25 SSLC-standard Aptitude and Mental Ability questions for 150 marks.
For most posts, Paper II has 200 degree/PG-degree standard questions for 300 marks and lasts 3 hours. Tamil and English Reporter candidates instead take a 100-question diploma-standard stenography paper lasting 1 hour 30 minutes. Annexure III provides the detailed subject-wise syllabus and codes.
